Hello Member's
It is No Secret that the Onen Powered Hohn Deere Lawn & Garden Tractor's were the very best Lawn Tractor's ever produced by John Deere. If you have one this is the Thread to show Picture's and brag about them.

I have a First year John Deere 318 being a 1983. I have had it about Eight year's now and it has Never let me down. I Bought from a John Deere dealership, That Told me that it was far Too Old to Fool with. Two Year's ago I decided to restore it for our Granddaughter's First Birthday Party so I Tore it down to the rolling Chassis. I found out taht it has a dealer Installed B-43-E engine in it which was the 16 Horsepowerr engine, so during it's restoration, I Placed a brand New Onan P-218 Performer engine in it that I had Built for it. I Sanded down it's entire metal Body panels and Hood and Re-oainted all of it as well as it's wheel's and Chassis. I use this Tractor weekly to mow two full acre's of grass with as well as Till Our Garden with and use it's 54" dirt dozer balde of which I gave just $100.00 for and restored it as well as shown in the Pictures below.

Here is how it Looked the day that I brought it home and Paid just $300.00 for it. It came to me with an almost brand new 48" Replacement Mowing deck on it Valued at $1300.00 alone

After Seven Year's of faithful Service, it was High Time for a full Blown Restoration here is that process, as well as the First Birthday party Picture's which was the Real reason I restored the Equipment shown

Very nice work only question is who does the tractor belong to, you or the granddaughter. The cart adds a nice touch to the tractor.

Hello Member's
Here is the John Deere 316 that I Located for my son in law and paid $50.00. It came to me Not running but while I was checking it out I Noticed that it's Hour meter was working and it showed to have Just 349.4 Hour's on it. I Originally Bought it for it's Onan P-218 Performer Engine that was in it, but Once I got it home and straightened out it's wiring harness and got it up and running, I offered it to my Son in law and he took it so It Took me Six Grueling week's to Build it, so here is the Build process along with the restoration completed. All In and restored we had Just $659.00 total in it as shown below. Regard's, Hammerdown

Nice. I have a old 316 with the onan just sitting in the barn . I picked it up last summer from one of my customers just to say I have one. Don't use it a lot, more to pull my yard trailer around the yard. some day maybe I will tear into it and attempt a restro, until then its all original, runs and cuts nice just some play in the steering, not sure if its the steering shaft or the gear box portion as it takes a little work to get in there to see. looks like it slops around at the joint but not sure.

I've just recently bought a 318. I bought it for $600. The previous owner said it wasn't getting spark. I replaced the condenser and she fired right up and I've used it twice before the mowing season was over. I was stuck on cub cadets til my 3184 blew up. I seen a john deere 214 for sale and bought it. A guy I work with always talked about the 318's. So I found a 318 bought it and haven't been disappointed. It's been hacked and it needs a good resto. Long story short it's been good to me and I plan on making a project out of it maybe with a tiller and a johnny bucket. Nice work on the restorations! Did you paint them with a paint gun or rattle cans? Either way you did a great job! I ask because I am going to restore my John Deere 80 dump cart in the spring and debating on having the bed and wheels professionally painted or rattle canning them and wet sand/buff/wax. I will rattle can the black parts. Just not sure if the quality will look good on the body if I use the JD green and yellow rattle cans for the bed and wheels.
