As a new member, I just wanted to say thank you to the moderator for his hospitality of welcoming myself to the group. I found this group particularly helpful for a charging problem I was having on my 82 model RM1130E Ariens rear engine rider. I inherited this mower from my father who passed away in 2002 and strive to keep it operational. While having obvious sentimental value, it is a great machine and is perfect for my 3/8 acre lot. The engine is still original and uses very little oil. I recently installed a new carburetor after putting two kits in the original over the years as the float became porous and as a result leaked fuel constantly. I was also concerned with the throttle shaft bores in the carburetor body as the carburetor is 30 years old. It now runs like a new engine starting on the first pull. It has an electric starter but due to charging system problems, the battery would not stay charged and I have had to use the recoil starter. I was amazed to find the information I need to fix my charging system on this site and have a charging wire on order to correct this problem.
In conjunction with the Ariens, I also have a lawn boy 6 HP 2-stoke self propelled mower that I bought from a friend that I love as well. It runs circles around the 4-stroke mowers and I am amazed by it's power. I also have a 6hp Cyclo Rake that I use with the Ariens for leaf clean up that is a great machine which has saved me considerable time and back aches. The Ariens pulls the Cyclo rake just fine as well as a core aerator I purchased for fall grass sowing that I have loaded down with 240# of weights.
Once again thank you for the hospitality and I look forward to being a member of this fine group for years to come.
