Tecumseh starter driving me nuts!

I have a '98 Yard Machine riding mower. It has the Tecumseh Enduro XL/C 12.5HP engine. It was having trouble starting, so I thought I'd crack it open and take a look at the brushes. Pulled the armature out and the magnets fell apart in my hands. Time for a new starter! Went to look online and the starter that they show for my engine looks NOTHING like the one I took off. It only has 2 mounts instead of 4. Will this starter actually work for my engine? Does anyone have any clue?! :confused2:

The replacement?

The Tecumseh part number you need is 730326. I don't know the part number of the one you have pictured, but it will not work.

Right, the 730326 is the supercession for the 36914.

Oh wow. Pretty sure I'm an idiot.

This starter will also replace earlier style Tecumseh 36914 starter with 4 bolt mounting.

Are you saying that they are replacing a four bolt starter with a two bolt starter? That is a new one to me. Please double check that before purchasing. Better yet, take the old one to your local repair shop and have them order one after they look up the part number using you model and code numbers. If they give you the wrong one you don't have to pay for it.
