We bought a covered trailer and got our liability insurance this past week. Looking at getting another mower this coming week. Debating whether to get another 200 series Kubota with an air cooled gas engine or go to the 300 series and get the water cooled diesel. Looking forward to the rest of the summer.

I know you are a professional, but I haven't seen you comment on my thread that I started after seeing on a recent news broadcast where a professional lawn maintenance worker got killed when his John Deere ZTR turned over(no ROPS). Below is a link for that thread and if you would take a few minutes to read through it and give your opinion I would appreciate it. Another user also started a thread in the Poll Forum about whether professionals like yourself should be "fined" for not adhering to specific ZTR safety measures. I figure you can give us an earful with your opinion on this subject:0)

My Kubota 222 has ROP on it. Which ever mower I buy in the next few days will as well. I honestly keep it in the folded position. I tried to run it up when I first got it but kept getting hung up in too many things. As far as being fined, we are harassed by too many people for too many things now. I personally do not use it. I cut some terrible places. I always cut very slow on that type terrain. I do keep my seat switch in working order and other safety switches checked as well. In the event of a slow speed roll over the mower would shut down instantly. I had rather be able to bail than be tied to the thing with a lap belt on.

what size trailer did you get and how do you like it? I run a 19 ft legend aluminum enclosed trailer and it took a lot of getting used to. nice to go home at nite and lock it and your done. keeps equipment cleaner and dry when it rains or nasty roads. Not enough room inside to move around equipment because the wheels are outside

I bought 16' V nosed enclosed trailer 7' wide. We run so many narrow roads and have to get into a lot of tight places and I have a Dodge 2500 crew cab with an 8' box so it is real long. I am getting a Kubota ZD 326 hopefully tomorrow as well. It will be 60" wide. I already have a Kubota ZG 222 with a 48" deck as well.

I honestly don't know how to classify what we are. I know we cut grass and trim shrubs and various other things to make a living. Business has been good. We started up last August and we are picking up some weeks as many as three or four yards. Our goal right now is 50 or more. We are half way there. Because we are located in a rural area we travel several miles. My southern most yard is probably 30 miles or more from my northern most yard..... That is one reason I am taking the plunge to get the second mower. A minor breakdown several miles out is very costly because of distances involved if we have to leave and come back. Our largest yard is 4 acres. Many of our yards are rough, some are steep. We live in an area that is somewhat economically depressed so we have to cut for less than people make in some areas of the country. Most people expect their grass to be cut only once very two weeks. Therefore in the rainy seasons we cut a lot of deep grass. I don't know if we could be considered professional any things or not. We just cut grass trying to make an honest living.

sounds like you got a good start to get what you want. I mow 19 yards nights and weekends, most need it every 5 days . I am very fortunate my customer base is excellent. I have to travel about 8 miles out at the most, still to far for me to go. Good luck and enjoy the trailer and mower
