i want to remove the 61: deck and replace it with the 52: deck is this possible?

Measure the mounting brackets and if they are the same type size and distance apart it will work.

Yes you can, Grasshopper did change the style of the mounts seems like somewhere around 2000 but the good news you can buy the new mount for just over $100.00 from your dealer. You may find a deck with the proper mount and not have to do anything at all.
