As usual, we are getting a rash of posts on this site from people who can never bother to provide the basic information needed for many of us to help them.

Basic information includes: The machine product ID numbers off the label for the machine along with the engine number information.

Note: The machine builder does not make the engines.

Yes, I know this has been brought up many times, but I will repeat it as needed.

Why am I wasting my 50+ years of experience only to be disrespected and seemingly taken advantage of to help others for free?

I get it, I'm a "nice guy" who works for...

seen this happen to a friend of mine put together with the cly dry would not start shot some oil in the cly it started and been all right ever since

I recently overhauled my 1864. It ran fine before that. Now I can’t get it to start. I have spark, the timing is correct, I have fuel. I tried spraying starter fluid in the carb. I’ve checked all the safety switches. What am I missing?

If your spraying starting fluid into the combustion area and it doesn't try to start you don't have adaquate spark.

Lawn mower blades sometimes bang into rocks and sometimes even keep running. Starting? NO, no matter what you do the %$#@ thing will not start.

When this happens, a common problem is the flywheel's motion continues to rotate enough to SLIGHTLY BEND THE KEY that holds its position to the crankshaft. Yeah... that bend seems sooo small most ignore it. My suggestion is REPLACE THE KEY or whatever it is called. It is the thingy that keeps the flywheel's position locked to the crankshaft's position.

One last comment.........NEVER EVER TEST FOR SPARK WITHOUT USING A SPARK PLUG GROUNDED TO THE MACHINE!!!! Doing so risks an internal arc in the spark transformer. If that happens it will never arc again until the transformer is replaced
