I have a toro mower and I have stripped one of the screws that holds the carburetor to the block. how can I fix this. the screw will not hold. I think this is an aluminum block

Stripped the screw or the threaded hole? Sometimes if you look into the hole you can see a couple good threads left at the bottom. Screw in a stud and secure the carb with a nut if so. There are inserts that can be threaded into the hole that will do the job if not.

Or you can try to find a self tapping screw, same diameter and no longer (but not too short) of the old screw.
