Still strimmer FS90

I have an issue with the drive of my strimmer. The motor appears to be working fine but the head has no drive. I have dismantled and the square end of the shaft appears to be disconnected from the motor. See photos attached. I have reinserted but it continues to disconnect and lose drive. What is the issue? What parts need replacing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked the clutch?

Have you checked the clutch?
Yes I have. That is all ok. It is definitely the Square shaft not remaining seated that is the issue.

Does the head turn free with the flex drive shaft?

A few things which will cause this problem. Ends of the flex shaft worn or shaft broke. String head not seated all the way. String head gears worn. Power head not seated all the way. Clutch worn or one internal clutch spring broke. Unit not assembled properly. What was the original problem, which caused you to take the unit apart? What have you done to the unit so far?

Thank you. The clutch has been replaced. Whilst the unit is apart I can turn the shaft at the motor end and the reel spins. It appears to simply be the the shaft does not sit into the clutch/motor. It almost appears too short. So maybe it is worn? I have not dismantled the string head to look there yet. What is the best approach?

Shafts don’t wear in length. When you turn the shaft at the motor end, know then string head to make sure that the shaft is tight in the head and the gears aren’t stripped. Also, make sure that the motor end is seated all the way down on the shaft, by turning the string head while pushing the motor head onto the shaft.

Ok thank you. I will take another look. If I have any further questions I will be back. Thanks again. I appreciate it.

Also make sure that the gearhead on the bottom is pushed all of the way in.
