The starter pawl on my Stihl FS 85R broke recently. I have replaced it and also the cup it sits in. However it still won't start.
The pawl does not seem to engage.
I have done this before without problem. Any ideas?
I can't work out what causes the pawl to engage in the first place, gravity?

there should be a very fine spring fitted with the pawl so the pawl is pushed out ward so the starter can engage when the rope is pulled
Thanks 066 - I was just about to post an update that I'd got it sorted with a little spring - I ended up speaking to a mower repair chap in the end.
I can only assume the first time this happened the spring must have stayed in place as I certainly didn't replace it that time.
Many thanks for responding.
