I looking at possibly getting a used Stihl FC75 Edger. The seller says wants $50. Says that it doesn't run. Supposedly needs a new carburetor. $50 a good deal? How old are these models? Assuming not making this model anymore?

I know that carbs are cheap online. I believe that Stihl uses Zama carbs. Correct? Are the cheap aftermarket ones online just as good? Do you pay what you get buying them online?

If it is a non runner I would not touch it; unless, I got do my inspection on it before buying it. It can be just a carburetor that need repair or a clogged spark arrester but also can be a lot worst like it had been straight gassed.

My luck with after market carburetor has been all bad. As for if Zama was used. Yes on some of FC75 did have a Zama but some also a had a Walbro.
