Folks: I have a Homelite Mighty Lite 26ss (UT21546). Despite a long time of uneventful use, now the starter rope will not retract. When I separated the engine assembly from the starter mechanism, it retracts just fine. Nothing appears to be broken. The two springs are engaged. But when I reassemble the unit, it will not retract. Any ideas please?

What U have is new generation of homelite.Did work on couple of those.First you lost it small screw that holding pull starter assembly in proper position.Need to split it again and see if you can figure that out.I not good at riding and explaining .Let me know if that help.Dan
