I have a weed eater riding mower that has a tecumseh enduro 16.5 hp and when the engine backfired while starting the flywheel busted the starter, i found another starter online for a great deal but its off the same engine but its a 16 hp engine. Will this starter fit on my mower with no problem?

Yes that starter will fit your engine.

Did it just break the gear on top of the starter? That can be replaced without buying a new starter.
