Wow..... Our population in the state of Florida is 19.3 million people, I didn't know we had that many people living here. An interesting fact is that we have 1,000,645 people in the state of Fl. who have gun carry permits, that's 1 in every 19 people. The second busiest day of the year for buying a weapon was Black Friday, there were 6802 back ground checks done. The busiest day this year was the day after the NewTown shooting, back ground checks numbered 6945. Now while your looking these numbers................... Think about something,There just FLORIDA NUMBERS :eek::eek:

I bet that alot of those people bought guns the day after the shooting so they could be protected if something were to happen like that.

If there over a million guns in Florida now do that X's 50 that is over 50 million guns in our country? I think our government is dreaming with this gun control thing. Maybe they should think more on gun education and try to stop some of these nut cases that think they need to kill. As I see it it will never be controlled 100%.

Yes I agree, but the scary part of that over 50 million guns in our country is that's just the ones they know about.

The guns they don't know about are a lot more scary then the one they do know about. Just think about it, how about these foreign countries what are fighting and you see pictures of guns and killing all over the place. That is a lot worst then anything we have here.

It says 1 million people have carry permits so I guess that would be more like 2 million guns or more. I am not sure about Florida laws but here you only need a carry permit on a pistol if your going to conceal it. So rifles and shotguns and pistols you don't conceal are not counted under how many permits are sold.

And the number of background checks are only for those that don't already have a background card.

What's SCARY to me is NOT having a gun when 2 young thugs decided to pull up beside me late one night and thought they'd try and drag me out of my car and beat me and rob me only to find themselves staring down the barrel of a Colt 45 Revolver! As soon as the first stringy headed blond hoodlum grabbed my car door handle he was suddenly looking at what undoubtedly appeared as a CANNON on his end! LOL He let go, threw his arms up in the air and said.."Everything's cool man!" and started doing the crawdad walk backwards. I said "It can get HOT real FAST!" only to have his dark stringy haired friend see the 45 and spin around get back in the car as he let go with an expletive deletive, turned left on a red light and gunned it down Main Street! Similar story w/ my friend who was packing concealed when he went into a roadside market/fruit stand in Florida to use the outside restroom and left his wife in the car only to be followed by 3 young black men who came in the bathroom behind him. He only showed them the pistol and all 3 turned and left in a hurry! Could just as easily been 3 Mexicans, or 3 Whites, or 3 Aleut Indians, yet the gun spoke a language they could all easily understand. When seconds count, cops are minutes away! I'll depend on myself for the most part and the gov't can bail out Wall Street and buy up car companies! In both cases the gun prevented violence and possibly death!

I have owned guns for over half a century, have used them for sport & huting, I have never abused them or the law. Here in Oklahoma we have a "Make my Day" law, if someone enters your house uninvited in a threating manner, well, you may send them back out whence the came, so that law slowed this activity down considerabley. Used properly guns are a deterrent against crime & I use them properly.

Some scary automobile facts according to Wilkepedia:
The United States is home to the largest passenger vehicle market of any country in the world. Overall, there were an estimated 254.4 million registered passenger vehicles in the United States according to a 2007 DOT study.
In 2011 there were 32,367 automobile deaths in th United States out of a population of 311,591,917 or 10.3876 deaths per 100,000 people. in 1969 it was as high as 26.418 per 100,000 people. Injuries would be substantially higher.

Some scary firearm facts according to Wilkepedia:
In 2009 there were 10.2 firearm related deaths per 100,000 people in the United States of which 3.7 per 100,000 were homicides, 6.1 per 100,000 were suicides, 0.2 per 100,000 were unintentional and 0.1 per 100,000 were undetermined.

These facts are related to automobiles and firearms but with the firearms someone has to arm and fire to kill.

I had a young punk go all road rage on me for an undetermined reason. I quickly turned in to a parking lot to avoid the danger on the street. I also had a broken thumb at the time and absolutely no way to fight him off. He comes into the parking lot and spews filth at me and states he is gonna beat my -ss. I kept apologizing to him and kept saying thank goodness no one got hurt.
It got to the point where the apology stuff was going nowhere, and I simply stated that I would not fight him, [unknown to him, the conceal carry option was ready if needed.]
I finally told him through a thinly cracked window that if he intended to pull me from my truck that he needed to do it from the passenger side----so the bullets would not strike his wife and child.
I never had to show the weapon, but the confrontation was over right then right there. He screamed at me and said 'I am calling the cops.' "I am calling them too'',I said. No shots fired, but that gun had plenty of power just by being there.

Some of the main legislative proposals backed by Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are:

  • requiring criminal background checks on all gun sales, including private sales
  • banning "military-style" assault weapons
  • limiting ammunition magazines to 10 rounds
  • strengthening penalties for gun trafficking
Plus 23 other Executive Orders.

Some of the other executive orders are concerning doctor-patient relationships and gun ownership. That is concerning to me because medical records are forever, and Lord knows how many people will view them.

A doctor asks your child ,"Does your daddy have guns at your house?" "How many?'' So he scribbles this stuff in the medical records, and other things such as should remain private. I am already concerned about privacy, and this new suggestion from the president could easily become mandatory if we transition to totally government funded insurance.

Which ever political party [or none] you support, it seems to me you have to think what the other party will do when they win the election and it is their turn to enforce the legislation that is passed today.

I believe nobama is an anti-American, Muslim loving piece of crap! If and when civil war breaks out I will take great pleasure in stalking and shooting liberals!! You piece of crap libs are giving our country away to Muslims and illegal Mexicans. You also think its okay for welfair people to pop out 15 kids and expect the working man to pay for it!

I think the problem is when you start talking about welfare and food stamp and those types of programs is that the government has gotten itself so deep into it that now they can't figure a way out without destroying half the country. The thing is I don't mind trying to help someone out but lets not take advantage.
