So I used this site a ton when doing research on buying my first zero turn mower so I thought I would ask you guys if I made a wise decision.

First off I will be mowing just a little above 1 acre. I have some small slopes to deal with around my detention pond on the property but other than that it is relatively flat. Some background on me: I'm not a fan of cutting grass. I want to make quick work of the deal and be on to other things. I have a 2 yr old daughter and would rather spend the time with her than sitting on a mower. Speed and a nice cut were of the essence. I was trying to stay between 4-5K as well.

After reading tons on just about every manufacturer out there, I pulled the trigger on a dealer that was exceptionally great to deal with (very important to me) and seemed to try and give me the best deal possible. I put a down payment on a LEFTOVER Husqvarna MZ5225. It has the Kohler 25 HP Courage (read some nasty comments but most were towards the singles, couldn't find too much negativity with the twins). It also has the ZT3400 hydros and 22x12.50 tires on the rear for a smoother ride. 52" fabbed deck with easy access to everything for maintenance.

I got it for 4500 out the door. Did I get a deal or is this about the going price for a unit like this? Either way, I think I will be happy as all get out with it.

MSRP is $4,700.

Welcome to LMF, and the Husqvarna ZTR club!

That is a fine choice. That would have been my 2nd choice, if I couldn't swing the M-ZT. As long as you're happy with the price paid, that's all that matters. Anything under MSRP is a good thing.
The real test of the deal now is how well the dealer stands behind it with his service.

Cheers!

I am happy with the deal that I got. My buddy had just bought a MZ6128 from him and I drove his around for while before I decided to go with it. The MZ6128 had the ZT3100 hydros and the one I just purchased has the 3400 hydros so its a smaller upgrade. He also has the Briggs engine where I got the Kohler. I was contemplating the 6128 but it was a tad bit too wide to fit in my outdoor shed so I opted with the 52" wide deck instead. Hopefully its what I need but from looking around seems like my dealer did me right. I guess time will tell

Sounds like you did your research and bought what you wanted. Husky make some good equipment and I think you did good on the deal. Congrats on your new "toy".:)

Of course you got a good deal. You got it for under MSRP. The best part of the deal is that you get to spend more time with your daughter. Enjoy her, they grow up way too fast!

When I do the math based upon TN Sales Tax and Single Use Tax, I figure you saved about $610 OTD over buying it at MSRP. IMHO, you did GREAT and I think that ZTR will serve you well for many years!!!

P.S.
Post some pics of that ZTR......we wanna see it!!!!!

I will post up some pictures once I pick it up. We are currently building a new house and it wont be finished until September. We closed on our old house today so basically we are homeless in a way. The dealer agreed to stash it in the back off of the showroom floor and hold it for me until we get moved to our new house. Once I get it, I'll take some photos and throw them up on the net
