Snowblower air cleaners

Why don't snowblower manufactures use air cleaners. All my blowers don't have them,I can see there reasoning for not, I assume they think cold winter air Is clean, but I still think it would be better with than without one.
 
There is also a concern that with all the blowing snow enough will get in there on the element and freeze and block air flow.
 
The engine is usually hot enough to deal with water. They don't use air cleaners because generally they don't need them unless your snowblowing dust. I've never seen the use of an air cleaner on them anyway they would just get soaked
 
It just seem anything that has to go in the snow also like a snowmobile don't use a air cleaner. My garden tractors air filter will plug up with snow when I blow loose fluffy snow with it, so I think that is the reason for not using one. They must have the reasoning that there is no dust in snow because of a lot of moisture??
 
If you notice all snowblower engine have a heat box over the carb. This is to help warm the air going through the carb air horn. If you added a cleaner it would become ice logged and choke the engine out. No need for one as was said you don't have the dirt and dust.
 
Thanks guys you answered my question, I also learned snowmobiles had no air cleaners. Last snowmobile I drove had bogie wheels on it, sometime in the early 70s.
