Picked up this Snapper by accident on Evil-bay for $300au
She runs and mows!
Snappers seem pretty rare here, obviously someone must have imported them here in the past.

Its a Model 28113S, Series 3 1980?
Re-powered with a Tecumseh 12.5HP
Disk drive as a Stens sticker?

Motor compression tested at 100psi which is good I think? It needed a new ignition coil, the 36344 doesn't fit!
awaiting a 35135?

Needs a new muffler and pipe, can anyone suggest a replacement?

Needs new shaft boots and blade. It has a John Deere steering wheel and shaft welded on!:confused2:

The Snapper 11HP B&S 7060334YP looks similar maybe? But if I order it I cant return it!

Undo the engine and rotate it 90 deg so the plug is pointing backwards as it is supposed to be fitted.
If this has the pull start in an awkward position then undo it and rotate it as well.
Pulling directly backwards wors a lot better than pulling to one side.
having done that you can fit a standard tecumseh muffler and forget about the custom exhaust.
All of the aftermarket parts suppliers do standard mufflers for your engine so that will not be a problem.

The coil will be a problem and will set you back around another $ 100.
The part numbers did not code out but I usually fit a points coil and then an ignition module which works out about 2/3 the price.

Take it to a small repair shop so they can look at it and get you the correct parts, then continue to buy your parts from the same shop.
Forget the multi brand franchises as they only want to sell you a new mower and will add a quote charge to the price of the parts.

I considered your suggestion...
Rotating 90deg would prevent use of the catcher and also standing the mower up on its stand for servicing (the best feature of these RER's)
Also would sump oil fill the combustion chamber when turning up on head?

Found the 00 grease for the diff and chain:smile:

The orientation of the engine is correct as it is. I was a Snapper dealer back then and the muffler appears to be for an 11HP B&S. Most likely the original or the correct replacement. If the one that is on there now fits OK, I wouldn't be afraid to order one for a 28113. Worst case scenario, if it's wrong you can sell it on ebay, but it won't be wrong.

Hi, I recently purchased an old Snapper model 28113S on auction. it is in very good working condition. my question is as follow: the aux brake cable is not hooked anywhere underneath. I tried to check and see where it must go, but couldn't come right. it is as if it is too short, somehow I get the feeling that there must be some other cable involved here, cause i can see some cable connecting points, but obviously there's no cable there. Any advice? Is there somewhere I can download the parts catalogue?
