Greetings all
I picked up this TORO 210-5 mower, it runs great. Currently updating the drag links and tires and will be sharpening the blades.
But i noticed it doesn't have headlights.. not that i would mow at night but i think they might be handy. I tried to find a headlight kit or a replacement grill but there is nothing in my area. Any idea as to what i can do affordably?
Nice machine that looks well cared for. All metal construction. 1990 10HP engine.
This is about as basic "old school" as a rider mower gets. That is not a bad thing but understand the limitations that these have.
The first limitation will be that the battery charging stator does not produce enough amperage to run headlights for very long. That means the battery will constantly be run low and create slow cranking/ starting problems in a very short time.
I also seldom mow into the late evening, but it does happen, especially with South Texas heat. A simple solution that I have used for years has been to use compact magnetic LED work lights with their own batteries or rechargeable. They are cheap from Harbor Freight or online. I also use them in my shop, so they play a dual role.
