This is one of the newer b&s ohv engines, about the size of the old 3.5 hp classic. The mower starts very easy but after a couple of minutes it starts to hunt just a little. I have cleaned the carb twice. It is a very basic, plastic carb. The gaskets look good and I even used sealant to make sure it wasn't sucking air. Thanks for any replies. Bill

Take the gas cap off while it's running, wait a few minutes and see if it stops hunting. It would be best if you did this with about a half tank of gas to avoid gas splashing out of the tank.

Im afraid this is quite normal for this engine.

I bet when its under load it will run like a dream? They are not meant to just start and run and sit on the concrete. They have to be put under load straight away.

You could try and remove the white fuel module and then strip the module down to clean it.

I have one of these engines and it runs like a dream whether it's under load or not.

That's certainly correct. Mine is rich enough to run correctly, but just barely.

I have had 2 other ones that ran great. Easiest to start I have ever seen. Today I changed plug, ran with gas cap off and still no change. I took plastic jet out of carb and cleaned it but it wasn't dirty. What does anyone think about adjusting valves to fix this problem. I have been told that valves couldn't cause this problem. Does anyone know valve settings. Thanks for all replies. Bill

Have you made sure that all governor springs are present, connected and in good condition?
