Simplicity legacy won't run.......intermittent

I have a simplicity legacy 25H air cooled with 950 hours. I am the original owner. I mow 3 acres. Last September about an hour into my mow I turned the mower off went into the house came back out and it wouldn't start. Crank but no fire. Could not get it to run! Had it picked up the next day and into the local simplicity dealer. When he looks at the tractor it starts without hesitation. Runs perfect repeatedly. So I get the mower back and mow the rest of last year perfectly. This year I have mowed 6 times with it and yesterday it does the exact same thing. I was mowing with it for about 2 hours straight, get off the mower and get back on to finish and nothing. It cranks but no fire. Tow it back in and the next day it runs perfectly for them. I have no idea what it's doing! Electrical maybe but very intermittent? Please advise. Thank you.

Your symptoms are common to 2 faults

1) debris in the fuel tank blocking off the fuel supply
2) magneto going bad and open circuit when hot.

Get a can of carb cleaner and in line spark testers.
When it stops check the testers, no flashing = electrical problems

If it flashes squirt a little carb cleaner down the carb throat.
Fires right up = fuel blockage.

Neither happens then it is most likely overheating.

Thanks for your quick response. Is replacing the magneto expensive or difficult to do? What would you recommend as the best way of cleaning the potential debris that may be in the gas tank? Thanks again!

Start by working out what the cause is before you start throwing money at the mower.

magnetos run from $ 60 to $ 100 and there is one for each cylinder.

Tank has to come out for cleaning properly and that is a big job .
