I'm new to the group. I have a 2001 Broadmoor tractor with a 16 HP Kohler engine. If I can't start the engine after a few tries, there's a whining noise for as long as the key is turned in the ignition. I'm thinking it might be my starter and/or solenoid and it's only a matter of time before it won't start at all. Can someone please give some input? I've never replaced a starter - is it something I should attempt or should I leave it to the pros?
