Are you sure your idler spring is moving freely? Maybe it needs a good cleaning so it moves free.

Manuals | Dixie Chopper I believe you need to replace deck belt with oem belt, manual has adjustment for drive belt.

kiva I ran Dixie choppers commercially for years the silver eagle is what we ran. they've got a silly tensioning pulley for the deck drive. what I found that worked for us was using a drive belt that 1" shorter then the recommend OEM size. some will say its hard on various components but we never had any problems.
