I have 2 acres and currently use a 48" Husqvarna garden tractor. I am looking to upgrade because right now it takes about 2 to 2.25 hours to mow it all and I am looking at Ferris. I found a Ferris IS1500z from 2008 with only 27 hrs. The guy selling it says he got sick and a neighbor mowed for him with his own equipment. I think it had the 52" deck and 25 hp Kawasaki. He wants $4000 for it. I could get a new IS700 for about $5700. Any input from the pros around here would be great. Thanks.

Here is my problem with it. It is a 2008 with only 27 hours on it. How long has it been sitting?
Does he start it once in awhile and drive it around?

If the blades have not been turned on in a year or two it will most likely need spindle bearings.
If it's been sitting in one spot for to long the tires will have flat spots and dry rot.
I feel it would be worth it if it had 200 hours on it.
It is 8 years old The most it is worth is half of what it was new.

He said he has maintained it really well. He has kept everything greased and it looks pretty clean. I think it was ran very occasionally and he said it got regular oil changes. He called me today and said he would drop it to $3700 if I was still interested.

It looks nice.
Go take it for a ride.
Reach under the deck ( engine off) and check the blades for any up and down movement.
If it rides good and does not vibrate with the blades on. Then I would get it.

Thanks. I feel like for the money, it's worth a shot. A new one was going to be $5900 plus tax for a demo.

What is the black stuff all over the deck. That is not supposed to be there.

The seller said it is a special non corrosive hammered coating. Not sure what that is.

If I bought it I'd scrape the spray on bedliner off.and repaint that area.
