I'm re-posting this because I neglected to include a photo of the engine label in my original post. My research suggests that Kohler 24-522-264 short block will work. Anyone know if that is correct?

There is two short listed for that spec.

24 522 264 has a 1-1/8 x 4 crankshaft.
24 522 261 has a 1-1/8 x 3.1 crankshaft.

But RBI my distributor notes that the 69534 uses the 24 522 264 superseded from 24 522 216. Factory drop shipped.

And shipping is expensive or at least the last short block cost me nearly $200 as they insisted on shipping by 18 wheeler when it was only 46 lbs and UPSable. A big difference than the quote $50 shipping charge and the actual charge. The short block being sold for less than it cost me. Luckily the install labor saved me.

Forgot to ask a (dumb) question. Does the crank length refer to the length of the nose (i.e., the part of crank that extends beyond the case)? Just curious if I need to investigate whether I might run into any issue mounting and operating the clutch on this machine if I replace a crank with a length of "3.1" with one that has a length of "4."
