I seem to remember there was a post about replacing the t25 carb with a new one that wasn't like the original. Does anybody have a suggestion as to what carb is the easiest replacement? Least modification to get it to work that is. Hate to give up on this machine if there is a way to fix it.

Try cleaning the OEM carburetor and replacing the metering diaphragm before replacing it. Then if that doesn’t work, order an aftermarket carburetor based on the model number of the trimmer. Aftermarket two stroke carburetors can be more hit or miss versus a four stroke larger mower engine.
