my girlfriends dad just got one of those. i had to do some work to it and it was so simple to work on. it has decent speed too:biggrin: my yard machines tools around pretty well. the only problem i have with that mower is the wheels in the back look small and it gives a sort of dinky look to the thing.

lets see, i did belts on the mower deck, the motion drive belt was to big for the thing that i came with so i changed that, cleaned the carb, replaced the blades kind of routine stuff.

Why did you have to replace the blades? Did they buy the mower used so the blades were dull or did you put better mulching blades on it or something? Just wondering.

he hit a rock i guess and it put a huge gouge in one of the blades. but i wanted him to get some mulching blades on there because it was just before fall, and he wanted to be able to mulch up the leaves.

Shift on the go also called shift on the fly meaning no need to stop to shift gears or have to use a clutch, but to change gears while moving.
Here is a link to a thread on the subject.

mine you can change gears without hitting the clutch/brake pedal.
and by the variable speed you mean the hydrostatic transmission correct?

The only thing in that link that made any sense was written by ILENGINE .

Historically a typical variable speed mower system had a shift lever for forward and reverse and that was its total function . A second lever , that typically had 7 positions , was to change travel speeds and this speed change lever was to be moved to different positions without disengaging the clutch or even touching the foot clutch in any way .

Does the mower in the original post have this set up? That's my question and I'm stickin to it .
