Hi all.I own a B&D hedgetrimmer (HT 020).Had it about 6-8 yrs.This old 20" has been a blessing.Now it's time to sharpen.My question is about the file size.i presently own a 12" half-round,but it seems a bit overkill.Thinking of buying a small round file.Tapered.What say you?

On my hedge, i used my dremel tool- alot quicker. No more than five minutes with it. If not, I would suggest using a flat file. You would get a smooth edge with it.

Thanks for the reply, but i don't have a dremel OR grinder. So i'm doing this by hand.My file seems a bit too big for the job.In downsizing,i was thinking a smaller file, maybe a tapered round one but i agree,a flat would be more ideal.

A flat file and don't take too much off.

Be sure to remove any burrs you create on the bottom side and flush the blade well to remove all swarf (fillings/grit).
