scotts mower issue

I have a Scotts mower 16HP 42" cut. It is a Kohler command engine. I have been jumping it off for some time without any problem however it is now shutting down shortly (seconds) after disconnecting the jumper cables. As mentioned earlier I have been jumping the mower off for probably over a year and it would run fine. Wondering if this might be a carburetor/fuel issue as it is idling a little rough or worn safety switch?

Kohler voltage regulators require a certain voltage to operate. I suspect after you where jumping the battery the battery was maintaining enough voltage to keep the switch on the voltage regulator operating properly. The voltage may now be dropping below that level which causes the voltage regulator to stop outputting power, and then there is nothing there to keep the fuel solenoid energized after disconnecting the jumper cables.
