The idler pulley on my 48" deck SCAG came apart on me a couple of weeks ago. The center portion with the ball bearings popped out. I managed to put it back in, re-installed the pulley and was able to finish the mowing job. I ordered a new pulley. That arrived and is the proper part. I took the old one off and put the new one on just as the old one had come off (and which worked fine for a while when I did the temporary repair). Now though, with the new pulley installed, every time I try to engage the blades, the belt jumps the pulley. I've tried increasing the tension, and decreasing the tension on the belt. Neither seems to make any difference.
Any ideas as to what might be causing the belt to jump off?
