Trimmer is 3-4 years old, in springtime I replaced the intake strainer and fuel lines. Starts easy when cold, runs fine. After I use it a bit I notice the throttle gets a little touchy, idles fine but when you apply power you have to kind of nurse it back up to full power. If you stop for some reason, forget it almost impossible to restart.

Running too rich? It takes the standard 50:1 fuel/oil mix. I am using fresh gas.

MJW, Is it the 31 cc ? I had the 790R for 10 years. Do you keep the foam air cleaner washed and oiled? I never once adjusted the needle jets (high and low) in that time, but maybe if you have the tool you could try barely turning the high speed needle one way or other . Is it kicking out black smoke? Have you pulled the plug and looked for color? The old 790R would always start hot. I did run a no- foul plug. You can still find them in some auto stores...platinum center electrode.

It's a 26cc, model RY26540. Never any smoke to speak of.
