I have a poulan 42" riding mower that starts right up runs good but quits running as soon as I let up on clutch/brake pedal. seat safty switch is jumped or deactivated. need advise thanks howard

Sounds like a seat safety switch. Most people don't know that the wiring connector for the seat switch has an internal safety switch that gets activated when you unplug it. Works the same as not being on the seat.

also... could be a stuck blade engagement switch....check them all :smile:
