I know the technical answer but am asking anyway to verify the number. The Briggs book gives max end gap and ring land clearance, but not minimum gap. The engine is a 125K02-01890E1 06041958 . New piston and rings in a new bore. The 2nd ring comes in about .030" with a book spec max of .045" so it it fine. The top compression ring is coming in at .003" That seems way too small. The bore is 2.6885" as I recall so I would think it should be filed to around .010" Can anyone with more knowledge of these small aluminum bore engines confirm that the ring needs to be opened up a little to keep it from capturing when it is hot?

I will answer my own question. This is from a pdf the google AI found on page 71 of service manual.
