Riddle me this... how come go cart wheels come apart to replace the tube or tire?

and the 10 inch 4.10x3.50 x 4 wheels on the front of my mower do not? I spent 2 hours yesterday replacing a tube. Ran over a thorn. I had planned on reusing the 11 inch flat free tires I had replaced on my last ztr, however besides being an inch taller, the the hub was and inch wider and would not fit into the blades. I found lots of marathon tires(flatfree) but none in my exact size. Cheap to.. a 9 inch 3.50 x 4 was only $21. Marathon Tires Flat-Free Lawnmower and Cart Tire, 9in. x 3.50-4 | Lawn Mower Style| Northern Tool + Equipment In any case now I am on a quest to find 4 inch rims that split apart for replacing the tire and tube that will fit my mower!! Any ideas?

My guess is you need to change tires on a go cart much more often than a mower.

I got some news for you. The rims that come apart don't make it any easer to change the tire. The ones I have changed were a bear to change. I have found its a lot easer to just buy the tire and rim as a unit. Never changed a go cart tire but I have changed the front castor tires on the mowers.

I've seen the ones that do come apart let moisture in and rust. My old scag mower at my old job the rust got so bad it popped 4 tubes before. We figured it out

I had not thought about the rust issue... I have taken apart the 2 piece rims on my scooter to fix a flat and it was painless. They are aluminum so I dont think there could be a rust issue. I just need to find some more like it.

What do you have for a scooter that takes a two piece aluminum wheel? The problem I can see is getting something that will fit. They do make a two piece castor wheel for mowers but they are hard to repair . I have never ran into a rust problem but not saying it can't happen. Also they make a sealer that you can put into you castor tires that will seal the leaks, one brand is green Tire Slime. I see now they are going to whole unit wheel and tire replacement but its not cheap. The time and money you will but into aluminum wheels it just seems you would be better off just using the stock castor wheels and tires for your mower unless you are getting a lot of flat tires.

i use to race go carts and the reason the wheels come apart is so you can make different wheel set up combos so you can have the wheel setting more to the inside or to the outside depending on the track your at and the drivers tastes

I did use a slime tube (prefilled with slime) when I replaced the tube recently. and yes if I could get the correct size flat free wheel ... this discussion would never have happened. As it is... I am going to call the company that makes the scooter (bladez) and see if they have a source for the wheels.
