Replacing Starter problem

I am putting a new starter in a Kohler sv590 and the new starter has a tab that sticks up near the studs and the starter won't seat right because the tab hits the piece that the studs are supposed to go through. The old starter did not have that piece.

Is this the starter design with 2 studs that mount with nuts into a bracket or the one with 2 cross bolt holes that bolt into the side of the engine block casting?

Does it have a remote mounted solenoid or a starter mounted solenoid.

The sv590 engine had a couple of different configurations depending on which rider design they were going on, so starters can be a "gray area" when it comes to getting the correct one.

It is the starter with 2 studs on top. I finally got it you have to position the wire which also fits in the same slot. What a pain.

I call it Engineers having fun creating more pains for the end user.

Glad you got it sorted out.
