Replace Hydraulic valve lifters on Kohler CV13s engine

I've been having engine problems with my old John Deere LT 133 mower keeping it running. I've finally narrowed it down as to why it would start easily one time and hard the next time. Finally it won't start. Only back fires thru the exhaust and carb. The exhaust valve is not closing. Looks like the hydraulic lifter is stuck.
How do I go about replacing the hydraulic lifters?

Hit the link in the second post and get your service manual fom Kohler.
Because of the bucket construction Kohlers are easy to work on and once you remove both belts they can be services in the mower

CV13s
C= Command
V = Vertical shaft
13 = Hp
S- Spark advance ( Sam module )

All the Command vertical single engines are covered by the same manual
https://www.kohler-engine-parts.ope.../free-kohler-service-manual-downloads-p-34596
Third one down all models 11 Hp to 16 Hp

Don't use the S on the CV13S its a letter that John Deere uses. Look for a CV13. Its under command PRO 11-15 HP vertical
