How to replace the drive belt on z445 mower

NOW that I know a Z445 is a John Deere brand mower ... seems there are other mowers, besides a Z445..
and did YOU know the information you are seeking is in a John Deere Manual which is available online !!!

Yea - I have the manual - but the drive belt instructions are NOT clear. When the belt brakes - it just pulls off. So you really don't know how it was mounted. Got it done. Did NOT remove the mower deck like it says to in manual. Unplugged the electic connector under the engine and got the belt up to the top ring. Took off the black side plastic pods, and fished the new belt up and over the blades on each trans housing. Then put the spring back on and reinstalled the black plastic pods. And all good. And running now !!

I have my manual with the pictures, but my question about the John Deere z445 belt is the small spring. In the picture it looks like it just hangs there and isn’t connected to anything. Any help would be appreciated. I have the 54 inch deck
