I posted problems with this engine before. I had fuel in the oil. Its a 26 HP Kohler Twin. I replaced the carb. with a new one. This took care of fuel in the oil but the engine speeds up & slows down on its own. There is no adjustments on the carb. other than idle speed. I was careful to get governor hooked up like it was originally. Also checked gov. setting in manual. It runs as it should at times then speeds up on its own then slows. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks----Cambre

Thanks for reply Mechanic Mark, I went to PDF manual to troubleshooting. The only thing I found it could be (other then carb., witch is new & cost me $300) was clogged air filter (its new) was a partially closed choke that is easy to set. Butterfly opens all the way. The governor doesn't hunt, just speeds up & slows on its own. Help needed-----Cambre

Make sure that the two governor springs are present and connected.
