My 1997 ch25s has died!! I have located a ch740-0013 cheap but it has 1 7/16 shaft. Can source a clutch assembly to fit shaft, but don't know about front shaft connection. Will my existing shaft hardware fit this larger shaft? Any help before I commit myself will be appreciated.

If your talking about a flywheel PTO extension shaft, you should be able to transfer it over to the CH740.

Terry,

Exactly how did your existing engine fail?

I was a little pre mature on diagnosis. Now, I feel it is head gasket on one side. 'Good side ' plug burning clean, other side fouls and has carbon and oil deposits . Engine is sucking oil from crankcase up into air cleaner! What do u think? I have ordered head gasket kit.

That might just be a crankcase ventilation problem. I am not intimately familiar with these particular engines. Find what it has for a crankcase breathing arrangement and make sure it is all clean.

i'd say head gasket change will solve issue. Had to change mine.... fairly easy; but seems to be an issue with these kohlers..
