Remote oil Filter

Has any one added a remote oil filter to a 400 cc single cylinder "non oil filtered engine". This is for a generator. Thought you lawn mowers guys might have run across a working modification. The intent is to extend the oil change interval and sump capacity.

If it does not have an oil pump then it can not have an oil filter. Besides, it will not really change the oil replacement schedule. 50 hours is what it will be with a filter.

Depending on how crafty you want to get, an electric external oil pump that pumps through a filter would work, keeping your oil cleaner and adding more capacity. If you ran the oil through a high quality automotive filter you might get away with longer oil change intervals, but honestly the oil starts to break down and not be as effective so it probably wouldnt be worth going through the hassle. Generators are not really in dusty conditions anyway

Exactly what I was going to say, so +1 to that.

FWIW the generator I use most was second hand from one of our emergency services.
It has a 1 litre remote oil tank.
If you want to use an oil cooler / filter you will have to swap out te engine for one that has these options available.
There are aftermarket oil coolers available that piggyback on the oil filter mount.
