Heres the ramp gate I cut it in half with took it to a local welding shoppe told him what I wanted done. He drew it out on paper, and this is what I got he put a solid bar all the way across with pipe sections welded to each gate half.

Thankyou. It used to be a standard 4ft gate but this way cuts down on the wind drag alot, and he only charged me $100.

Yah the bi fold ramps are nice I really like them on the side of the trailer

I have the same type of tailgate on mine which it had when I bought the trailer. The only problim I have with it is the mower will hang up sometimes when loading.

Yep I got the idea off of a Texas trailer site they said they could ship me one for $319 plus shipping so $100 was a good deal. I noticed the mower hanging up sometimes to but when I get on the interstate it is so much better. Hows your deck adjustment? Mine was out of adjustment is why it was hanging up when I got it adjusted it stopped catching on the tailgate.

I am picking up many different makes and models for repair. Some of them hang up and some don't. This is something I just work
with when needed. My tailgate came with the trailer and I don't see where it is adjustable. What can you adjust on yours the hinges?

My hindges wont adjust but I after adjusting my mower I also put some low profile tires on the trailer it helped slope the bed a little more with the tailgate. I would say you could do the same thing with a drop/ raise style hitch on your truck.

I now have my trailer level when it is hooked my car. This is what was recommended my the business I bought my trailer from.
Seeing I don't know what to expect when I am picking up a mower from a customer I just carry some 2X4s and 4X4s with me.
The bigger problim I run into is when something doesn't move on its own power to push up the ramp my hand. I am thinking of
making some kind of a winch which would be OK if it has 3 or four wheels but I don't know about motorcycles which I also repair.

Get a motorized winch attach it to the front of the trailer (harbor freight has some inexpensive ones) wire it to run off the trucks power with a remote then you can stabilize the motorcycle by hand and use theremote to pull it up.

I think this came up in another thread the other day about adding a boat winch, or something like that to assist in loading non- running mowers, etc. I have found it to be better for the front of the trailer to be a little higher when un-loaded so it settles level when you do load it.

It seems a little easier to let down but not alot I will post a picture of the gate let down a.s.a.p.

at least in your case, if use without springs, - your gates will fall and slam upon the ground with less force, than before
all gate system springs we had - all brakes out sooner than later, gates slams over the ground, braking grill welds, etc
i didn't tried, but people say - garage gate springs (on sides of the trailer) last longest

and one more good thing in your design - you can eliminate bottom scrubbing (when open gate angle too steep and blades and spindles hit the edge)

You could carry a block of wood and put it under the front drop leg and crank it up, there for the rear goes down a little bit. just leave it hooked up to your vehicle for safety
