The mower decks work pretty good for leveling out mole hills also.

Had a customer that I always said, if you could grow anvils in your yard, she would try to mow one.

Anyone that has ever drained oil thru one of those valves has probably swore at it loudly. Bad design. If it's not leaking now, wait till your next oil change and replace it. A short pipe nipple (3/8" pipe if I remember correctly), a 90 degree elbow and a screw in plug into the elbow works great. Gets the oil away from the frame. If you want to get fancy, you could always insert a valve in line.

Hi, I have quick change oil valve on my Troy bilt Pony 2020.
I changed the oil yesterday. I drained it after mowing on a hot mower. the lawnmower shop owner had given me the wrong filter. It spun on but was slightly larger for a Kawasaki. I didn't realize until it was all apart.

Anyway, he had to order the right one. I re-changed the oil last night. First off, I had trouble pulling that yellow plastic valve out the second time around after turning it and getting it out of the detente. It seemed really tight to pull out. I pulled harder and it pulled out too far, making a nice mess. The little nipple on the metal part that guides through the plastic to lock it came through the factory slit. (The Part closest to the motor.
I pushed it back on and cleaned up changes the oil etc.
my question is how can I make that plastic part a little easier to pull. I cleaned it up with a toothbrush. Is the plastic part replaceable on its own? I read a Thread on here that a Said you can remove that plastic piece to tighten the actual metal valve down.

Does anyone have one of these things disassembled . I am trying to picture how this functions internally.
The only thing I'm going to address is you need to bring it to the man you see the man knows more than you oh wait a minute you brought it to the man there's some clown on here who will trash you if you don't bring it to the man so wherever you can get help to fix your problem that's where you want to go.

I'm kinda getting the drift from all the people who have had first hand experience with this "little yellow gadget" that this is a not a good idea...replace it with something else before you have to replace an engine
IMHO and theirs too...Happy lubrication is a happy Engine!

As many have said... replace that nuisance valve, which is just waiting to breakoff and destroy your engine, with a real steel plug. And yes, I did have one break off, but I noticed it in time. The little bit of inconvenience and messy dealing with a real plug is nowhere near the inconvenience and cost of a destroyed engine when that "convenience oil valve" drains all your oil out when you didn't want it to.
A wise friend once told me to look at what they tout as features on a product, and they are usually the weakest point that will fail.
If you still want the convenience, replace it with a steel pipe nipple and a steel cap. which will extend the drain to where you can catch the draining oil.
