Pull chord stuck

Recently, after using my lawn boy mower, I shut it off for a bit, and when I went to start it up again the pull chord was stuck. It would basically not pull at all. Based on a youtube video, I moved the blade back and forth and that loosened the chord up enough for me to start it again. However, next time I went to use it, the pull chord again is totally stuck after using it and shutting it off and trying to pull start it again. Anyone know what the problem is, and more importantly how to fix it so it does not keep occurring? Thanks for any help.

Something in the recoil assy is sticking or broken. Take it off and see what's up, then fix or replace.
Cheers!

Agree, I just replaced the spring ($9 on Amazon) on my "new" 8237 LB and while it was a bear to replace, it had similar issues.

This link will get you to a 1950-1988 Lawn Boy service manual if you need help:
