PTO SWITCH OVERHEATING AND MELTING. Replaced switch mowed for about an hour, then the push/pull knob fell off from overheating switch. No wires were burned but the terminal with a red wire and a green had overheated and melting the switch. Any ideas. Also where my I find a repair manual for Garden Tractor MODEL # 917.275970. I would like to have a wiring schematic.

Either you have a bad/loose connection at the pto switch, or you have what may sound like a short in the wiring between the switch and the clutch, including a possible short in the electric clutch itself.
