PTO powered pressure washer?

Hello, I just had this idea and don't know if it would work. So I have a pump that I removed from a pressure washer with a blown engine. It has a spot on it where a standard lawn mower engine shaft with key would power it. So I got to thinking, what if I somehow rigged up the pump on a shaft with a pulley on some plate that I could belt drive off the front PTO on my John deere 322. Would this work? I have lots of lawn mower engine parts so that isn't a problem. Could the different rpms hurt the pump? What size pulley should I use?

If you can mount it solid it will work... Your old washer was likely driven at full engine rpm... so you will need the same size pulley as the pto clutch pulley. You do not really need a lot of hp to run the pump so you 'could' run with a smaller pulley on the pump and then Not need to run your tractor at full rpm... BUT you are taking a chance that someone some day will operate it at full engine rpm and over speed the pump, only problem (if you are keeping the pump unloader installed) at higher than optimum rpm your pump will tend to cavitate and parts will ware at an Faster rate.
Lower rpm will just deliver Less GpM and reduced pressure... :smile:KennyV

Thanks for the input. I was also wondering if it would hurt the pump if I changed the orientation of it? It was originally on a horizontal shaft so would it hurt if I turned it to a vertical shaft?
