Poulan Saw choke?

Poulan saw. Starts great. Dies when throttle is touched. Can idle for long periods but dies as soon as throttle is touched. Is this a choke issue?

With infrequent use things like chain saws it is generally debris blocking the muffler.
Loosen the muffler bolts and see if the saw works properly.
If so remove the muffler & look for blockages.
Can be a dirty spark screen or bugs taking residence
