Hello again, while running my jd Lt166 48c 16 hp it all the sudden started making a popping sound , alot like a back fire but different. Its running fine otherwise any ideas what to look at would be appreciated.

What's your engine model #? if it's an overhead valve engine it will be stamped into the metal valve cover on the front of the engine if it's a flathead it will be stamped around the sparkplug on the metal shroud, or if it's an I/C briggs the tag will be riveted to the top of the cover.
