SCAG 48'' WALK BEHIND MANUAL START
MODEL: SW48-14KH
I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS MOWER FROM AN ONLINE SELLER WHO NOTED THE WIRE HARNESS WAS MISSING. I FIGURED IT BEING A MANUAL START THE ONLY THING I NEEDED ANY WIRING FOR WOULD BE FROM THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR TO THE PTO WITHOUT ADDING THE SAFTIES BACK IN, WHICH I PLAN TO DO EVENTUALLY IF I CAN GET THE PTO TO ENGAGE. SO IM BY NO MEANS A LAWN MOWER EXPERT BUT HAVE A DECENT KNOWLEDGE OF WIRING AND ELECTRICITY. I FOUND THE ORIGINAL VOLTAGE REGULATOR TO BE FAULTY. IT WAS SUPPLYING ROUGHLY 25VDC ON THE OUTLET SIDE. THANKFULLY THE PTO WAS NO COMPROMISED DURING THAT ISSUE. THIS IS WHAT I HAVE DONE SO FAR. TESTED THE PTO WITH AN EXTERNAL BATTERY SEEING HOW THIS MOWER ISNT EQUIPED WITH AN ELETRIC START, PTO ENGAGES WITH NO ISSUES. REPLACED THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR. I HAVE ADDED A GROUND WIRE FROM THE MOUNTING BOLT TO THE BLOCK TO ENSURE GROUND. I HAVE 38-40VAC IN AND 10-11VDC AT 2800 RPMS WHICH I REALIZE SHOULD BE SLIGHTLY HIGHER BUT I WOULD EXPECT THE PTO TO ENGAGE WITH 10-11VDC AND I COULD BE WRONG. REPLACED THE SWITCH. I GET 10-11VDC TO THE SWITCH. WHEN ITS NOT ENGAGED OR CLOSED I GET VOLTAGE BETWEEN MY PTO HOT LEG AND MY VDC FROM MY VR. BUT WHEN ENGAGED I GET 0VDC. EVEN WHEN I BYPASS THE SWITCH AND GO FROM THE VR TO THE PTO AND GROUND MY PTO TO THE BLOCK I GET NOTHING. ANY ADVICE AT THIS POINT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AND SORRY FOR THE LONG POST. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF WORK TO THIS MOWER AND HAVE A LOT INVESTED SO IM ALL IN AT THIS POINT.
