I just build a new house in upstate New York and would like to have the lawn put in. It's about 3/4 of an acre. Is it too late in the year to start this process or should I wait until Spring ?
It's probably too late this year (end of September) to start to put in a new lawn from scratch this year, particularly in upsate New York. I would be patient and wait until this Spring.
If the soil will be subject to water erosion over the winter go ahead and plant something to prevent that. Winter rye (cereal rye) would do well planted now.
linda4, I live in NE Kansas and the Greenhouse guy is on T.V. telling us now is the time to plant grass.I'd call your local greenhouses and ask them. russ
