Just recently, the local paper had an article about a DHS (Department of Human Services) top level manager, who was arrested and charged with racketeering and embezzling nearly $5,000 worth of new merchandise by approving the purchases of said items, then picking up and keeping the goods (carpeting, folding chairs, etc. for his own use. He left a clear paper trail pointing to him, although he had a business degree, and was earning $84,000 per year with generous fringe benefits. It truthfully amazes me anybody could be that dumb, especially so that I know him, and if I had not retired when I did, the man would have been my boss...kinda glad I am not there now because the police are going to dig deeper to see what else might be going on.

To steal a line from an episode of "CSI"....he is one of the dumbest smart guys I know.

Call me cynical but I think this sort of thing goes on everywhere and the only dumb thing he did was to get caught. It seems the more money and power people have, the more they want and the greater risks they will take.
