How many wires/terminals are there? Is it electric start?

Mower only 49 years old, hope you luck on finding a wiring diagram. Them years has to be before all the safety switch's so I would guess just a on and off ground switch to the coil.

I'll be 52 this year, are you saying that I am old???? My body doesn't have any safety switches either, just one big on/off switch........

Hopefully it will stay "on" another year or two......

This switch is a basic switch which will help you out. Look at the back of your switch and you should find each of the terminal identified. Here is how each terminal is used and where to connect each wire.

Ignition switchs

G= Ground
M= Magneto
S= Starter
L= Lights or Accessories
B= Battery

G terminal will be connected to a good ground.
M terminal will be connected to the wire coming from the coil or magneto.
S terminal will be connected to the wire going to the small terminal on the solenoid.
L terminal will be connected to the lights.
B terminal will be connected to the large terminal on the solenoid, the same terminal which the large cable from the battery is connected.
