Older Briggs 11hp I/C cast iron bore…oil leaking from valve cover

So this motor is on a big leaf vac and I just recently got a new b&s carb, new plug, air filter, valve cover gasket, intake gaskets, and cleaned the tank and petcock thoroughly…got it all buttoned up and it ran great after some tuning, but afterwards I noticed oil coming out the weep hole on the carb, opened up the air filter and saw it was coming from the breather hose from the valve cover. When I had the valve cover off I noticed that the reed had oil around it and whatever they stuff inside also had oil in it…is this correct? Do I need to order a new valve cover?

Update::: after starting again to make sure it was alright, it started right up. If I let it run without the air filter or cover on….when I killed the engine, that’s when I noticed a little bit of oil/gas mixture flow to the end of the carb…not from the breather hose… this is a 4 bolt updraft carb by the way….I don’t know if it gravity or what but I was hoping to not have any leaks…

Oil coming from the breather is
1) oil level being too high
2) oil too thin because it is fuel contaminated from a leaking carb
3) faulty breather valve
4) leaking head gasket
5) leaking rings
any combination of the above
